Car Insurance Types
There are three types of cover to choose from.

1. Third Party Only
Many people have the misconception that third party only is the cheapest form of insurance available. This type of insurance can be more expensive the fully comprehensive cover and only covers liability to others, without offering any protection to you.
The most appealing factor of third party was its affordability, but as this is no longer the case, it would be worthwhile comparing the cost of third party against fully comprehensive in order to get the best deal.

2. Third Party, Fire & Theft
This cover offers the same as third party only along with cover for your vehicle in the event of a theft or fire damage.
TPFT can be a good alternative for cheaper cars but you will still not be covered if you are involved in an accident. Always compare the price of TPFT against fully comprehensive in case you can get better cover for the same price, or even lower.

3. Fully Comprehensive
With fully comprehensive cover you receive everything provided by the other options as well as cover for yourself and your vehicle should you have an accident.
There are many optional extras available with fully comprehensive cover including breakdown cover or a courtesy car.
No fully comp policy will cover every eventuality but it is the most complete form of insurance available. Optional extras such as breakdown cover or a courtesy car are available and costs will vary between insurers. This level of insurance is frequently misconstrued as the costliest option but nowadays it is often the cheapest, meaning you could actually get more protection at a lower price when taking out a comprehensive policy.
